William “Bill” Ray Schultz

September 19, 1961 - October 24, 2022

William “Bill” Ray Schultz, 61, of Westminster West, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2022, after fighting a year long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Brattleboro, Vermont on September 19, 1961, to the late Allen Schultz and Georgia (Church) Schultz. Bill attended schools in Brattleboro and graduated from Bellows Falls Union High School, class of 1979.

After graduation, Bill enrolled in the United States Air Force. After his Honorable Discharge, he returned to Vermont. He worked for Amp Keyboard (later known as Chromerics). When the company moved, Bill began his career with United Naturals and worked there for 30 years. Bill loved living in Vermont and often called himself “The Green Mountain Boy!” He enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4 wheeling, and he really loved his 30 year annual camping trip to Lake Willoughby, VT with his Willoughby Brothers, which included his son and his close friends. The lake was freezing cold in May, but Bill would start each trip with a polar plunge! Bill will forever be part of the Willoughby Brothers through all the memories, stories, and years of friendship! Bill loved the New England Patriots and often had friends over to watch the games on Sunday. He also loved Christmas and collected all things Santa Claus. But most of all, he loved his family and his friends that became family.

In 1982, he married Ruth Lumb. Along with Ruth’s son, Dennis, they added two more children to their family; daughter, Christina (1982) and son, Daniel (1988). Although Ruth and Bill divorced years later, they remained friends. Bill is survived by his children and grandchildren, Christina and Drew Kacik and their daughter, Dalia of Westmoreland NH; Dan and Kayla Schultz and their children, Haili, Troy, Demi, and Natali of Walpole NH; stepson, Dennis and Kim St. Louis and their daughters, Joycelyn, Haley and Alyssa of Springfield VT. He is also survived by his sisters, Georgia and Richard Smith, Verlane Schultz and Mike; Claudia Wood, April and Brent Waterman, and his brother, Arnold Schultz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including his lifetime friend, Dan Harris. Bill is predeceased by his parents, his brother, Allen Schultz Jr, his sister, Ida Monday, his brother-in-law, Bernard Wood.

A Celebration of Life will be held this Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 31 Gassett Road, Putney, VT at 1:30 PM. Family and friends will gather at the Putney Puddle at 1:00 PM to scatter Bill’s ashes at one of his favorite spots.

Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, Bellows Falls was entrusted with arrangements.
