Walter J. Kurkul Jr

November 4, 1950 - May 31, 2025

Walter J. Kurkul Jr, 74, of Kurkul Road passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Veterans Hospital in White River Jct. He was born in Bellows Falls, VT on November 4, 1950, the son of Walter and Charlotte (Muzzey) Kurkul. He attended schools in Westminster and was a graduate of Bellows Falls High School.

Following graduation, he joined the US Navy and served on the Submarine USS Corporal. Following his time in the service, Walt returned to the family farm in Westminster and he also worked at the Bellows Falls Post Office. Walt went on to own the family farm where he enjoyed haying and sugaring.

Walt is survived by his wife, Catherine (Breslend) Kurkul, two sons, Jeff and wife, Jennifer and Kevin and fiancée, Olivia Zink. Walt also leaves several grandchildren, Remington Savoy, Hannah Kurkul, Jillian Kurkul, Jaxon Kurkul, Kaitlyn Kurkul, Lily Kurkul and a great-granddaughter, Magnolia Jane Savoy.. Walt was predeceased by his parents, and son, Christopher, brother, Gary and sister, Lucille Maguire.

Walt was a member of the American Legion Post 37, avid Cribbage player and he enjoyed making jokes and enjoyed hunting, fishing with friends and family.

Calling hours will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 10:00 until 10:45 AM at the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls. A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Church, North Walpole, NH. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT.
