Virginia M. Ranta of Westmoreland, NH passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Maplewood Nursing Facility. Virginia was born on September 14, 1926, in Walpole, NH, the daughter of the late Joseph Szuch and Mildred (Metevier) Szuch. She graduated from Bellows Falls High School in 1944. On February 8, 1946, she married the late Gilbert D. Ranta Sr. She had the most honorable work of not only being a housewife, but an Army wife and traveled all over. Virginia did seasonal work for local florists, she was an avid reader and sewer, but most importantly loved being a mother and grandmother.

Virginia was a member of the Senir Citizens club in Keene and Walpole.

Virginia is survived by her son, Gilbert Ranta Jr. of South Carolina, and a sister, Elizabeth Cowles of NY, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert and her parents, as well as her son, Erik Ranta and daughter, Ann Marie Pryor. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Paul Szuch, Joseph Szuch and sister, Rosemary Putnam.

There are no calling hours. A Graveside Service will take place at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Bellows Falls, VT.
