Stephen A. Bristol
Stephen A. Bristol of Perkinsville, Vermont, passed away on October 11, 2026, at Springfield Hospital. Steve was born on June 23, 1948, in Windsor, Vermont, the son of Paul and Florence (Allen) Bristol. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Paul Jr. and Duane, and his sister, Patricia.
Steve and Janet (Carpenter) Bristol were high school sweethearts who married on January 20, 1968. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage. Steve devoted his life to loving, protecting, and looking after Janet, building a life together through years of hard work and shared experiences.
Janet survives him, along with their son, Justin, his wife and two children, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Steve was a devoted husband and father, a hard worker, and a true jack of all trades. A man of few words, he was known for his sarcastic wit and sense of humor. He was a patient father who always tried to pass along his knowledge through the things he did and the example he set.
After graduating from high school, Steve enlisted in the Vermont National Guard, serving six years as an engineer. He later worked painting cars in body shops and spent a number of years with Springfield Fence Company, installing fences throughout New England.
Steve loved “playing cowboy” and enjoyed many years with his horse, Cooper. He took pride in producing high-quality hay and built a herd of beef cattle from just a handful of Hereford heifers.
Steve also loved deer hunting and was fortunate enough to bag a once-in-a-lifetime buck, an accomplishment he was forever proud of. He had a passion for fast cars, especially his 1974 Nova and 1979 Corvette, both of which he poured his heart into. He was also a devoted football fan, particularly of the San Francisco 49ers.
For the last three years of his life, Steve resided at the Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow, Vermont.
Steve will be remembered for his quiet nature, sarcastic humor, strong work ethic, and the love he showed through his actions. He leaves behind lasting memories and lessons that will remain with those who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
A Graveside Service will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Chester, Vermont.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT. 05101.
