Richard Elsesser

October 28, 1930 - April 5, 2024

Richard Elsesser, 93, of Derry Hill Rd, Acworth, NH passed away Friday, April 5, 2024, at American House in Keene, NH. Richard was born on October 28, 1930, in Elizabeth, NJ the son of Alfred and Grace Kennedy Elsesser. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School and attended Long Island AT&T Bell Telephone Labs, Union Junior College, and Stevens Institute of Technology. Dick worked as a draftsman for Bryants and was a manager for Fellows Gear Shaper, both located in Springfield, VT. Later, he worked for King Tool in Keene, NH until retirement. Following retirement, Dick spent more time running Elsesser Blueberry Acres in Acworth, NH with his wife of 50 years Shirley. Working the blueberry farm was his passion. He enjoyed planting, caring for, and ultimately the fruit produced. You could find him trying to create the perfect delight that made it into many people’s freezers, pancakes, and blueberry muffins. He also loved sharing his passion to the many customers that have come to Elsesser Blueberry Acres over the years. His laugh could be heard all over the blueberry patch.

Dick is survived by Shirley Elsesser whom he married on February 2, 1974. He is also survived by sister, Suzanne, two sons, James, and his wife, AnnMarie, Glenn and his wife, Jody, and two stepdaughters, Debra Hunter and Ruth Barrie Hunter. He is also survived by one daughter-in-law, Sharon and grandchildren, Taylor, Andrea, Steven, Matthew, Adam, and Angela, as well as nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. Dick was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Dorie, two sons, Michael and Paul, one brother, Alfred, and one granddaughter, Mary.

Dick was an avid square dancer belonging to Pieces of Eight in Walpole. He was a member of the Fall Mountain School Board and Planning Committee, and Sullivan County SAD Conservation.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Alstead Third Congregational Church on June 08, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Acworth Cemetery will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT.
