Raymond E. Gould

February 13, 1936 - July 24, 2025

Raymond E. Gould passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, at Maplewood Nursing Home after years of battling dementia.

Raymond (Ray) was born on February 13, 1936, to Raymond W. Gould and Delia Gould. He spent most of his life growing up on their farm in North Clarendon, VT. At 18, he enlisted in the Marines and spent a few years serving. He was in the Korean War. In 1964, he and his previous wife, Judy moved with their young son to Bellows Falls, VT. Ray spent most of his career working for St. Johnsbury Trucking where he met his best friend Paul Shaughnessy (Bubba). When not working, Ray was a regular at the American Legion where he was always more than happy to lure any unsuspecting person into a game of pool or a card game having them believe he was an amateur. They learned pretty quickly he was no amateur in either of those areas. After retiring from St. Johnsbury he worked at several places part time to fill his time and surround himself with people. He was definitely a people person. In fact, if one did not know it, they would swear that he was the manager at Home Depot. He spent so much time there that he knew the store inside out and was always more than happy to help a customer who had no idea he wasn’t an actual employee. For the last 15 years or so he resided in Keene, NH. Ray was a loving father and Papa. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His face would light up when they came to visit or he saw pictures of them.

Ray was predeceased by his first born daughter, Debra, who passed away at birth and was born on his birthday, his parents Raymond W. and Delia, his son, Randy, his sisters, Barbara Moulton and Beverly Hawkins.

He is survived by his daughters, Sherilyn Korpi of Keene, NH and Tracy Aumand and husband, Jon (Boomer) of Walpole, NH. His grandchildren, Ross Gould (Melissa), Allyson Santaw (Ben), Brieana Aumand, Bridgette Holmes (Evan), Bethany Burns (Nick), Elizabeth Korpi, Craig Korpi (Maddy), and Brooke Potter (Jake). He also is survived by 13 great-grandchildren, his brother-in-law, Lester (Turk) Hawkins and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no services. A private burial will be held by the family.

The family would like to thank the wonderful, loving and caring support that the staff at Maplewood Nursing Home provided our father/Papa the past two and a half years.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT 05101.
