Oscar Roland Poitras

July 10, 1954 - July 8, 2024

Oscar Roland Poitras, 69, of Chesterfield, NH passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2024, surrounded by his children, following a short battle with cancer. He was born on July 10, 1954, in Portland, ME the son of Oscar and Ella Poitras.

After graduating high school, Oscar proudly served in the United States Army. He was a skilled stone mason, founding his own business Brickworks in East Alstead, NH. Oscar was widely recognized in the local community for his craftsmanship in dry stonewalls, Rumford fireplaces, and colonial restoration. His work stands as a testament to his dedication and talent.

Nature, science, cars, and above all, his family, held a special place in Oscar’s heart. Known for his quiet demeanor and unwavering determination he was always ready to lend a helping hand and generously volunteered his time to those in need.

He is survived by his loving children: Liberty Poitras of North Providence, RI; Robin Patnode (Nate Patnode) and granddaughter, Shannon of Townshend, VT; and Tucker Poitras (Asia Colson) of Townshend, VT

Oscar is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ella Poitras of Keene, NH.

Oscar will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of craftsmanship, kindness, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

A Service and Celebration of Oscar’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 11:00 AM at the Dummerston Congregational Church, 1535 Middle Road, Dummerston, VT 05301.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT.
