Mary Whelan Burnham, from Langdon, NH and Hampton, NH, passed away August 2, 2026, after a brief and unexpected illness.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Weiser and Lauri Thompson; grandchildren, Zachary Thompson, Tyler Thompson, Krista Weiser, Dustin Weiser; as well as four great-grandchildren.

Mary was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and lived an admirable life. As a young girl she acquired many medals for competitive Irish step dancing. Her professional career included employers such as the F.B.I., the U.S. Navy (where she met her husband, Donald Burnham 1934-1989), several financial institutions, Alstead Printing and Fred & Barney’s Grocery Store.

Living near the beach in Hampton, NH was one of Mary’s pleasures. Watching dogs play on the water’s edge and seagulls trying to snatch food from vacationers was great fun.

Services will be held August 10, 2026, 11:00 AM, graveside, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Pine Grove Road, Alstead NH. Immediately following, you are welcome to join the family for refreshments and a celebration of Mary’s life at the home of Sherri and Allen Wade, 257 Walpole Valley Road, Walpole NH.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT.
