Joan E. Beach

Joan E. Beach passed away on August 2, 2024, at Langdon Place in Keene, NH.
Joan was born on June 9, 1931, in Northampton, MA to Lewis and Katherine (Warren) Newman. Joan graduated from Northampton High School attended Smith College and Worchester School of Nursing having earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. Joan worked at Springfield Hospital, VT and retired in 1992. Joan taught Sunday School in Langdon. Den Mother for the Boy Scouts and was a member of the Langdon Players. Joan was a member of both the Alstead Congregational Church and the Langdon Congregational Church. Joan was active in Fall Mountain Visiting Nurses Association, Fall Mountain School District, and was a Senior Olympian where she was Gold Medal Swimmer five times.
Joan was married to Norman Beach for 63 years who predeceased her. Joan is survived by her children, David (Darcy) of Easton, MA, Doug (Gina) of Langdon, NH, Richard (Rosa) of Dummerston, VT, Katherine Beach of Chester, VT, and Susan (Todd) Brown of Chester, VT. She is also survived by her brother, Carl, his wife, Connie, and sister-in-law, Gay Newman. Joan was predeceased by her husband, Norman, her parents, and her brothers, Richard and Robert Newman. Joan is survived by nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held of Friday, August 9, 2024, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Third Congregational Church in Alstead, NH at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Lower Langdon Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life to follow immediately in the Langdon Town Hall/Meetinghouse.
