George William Tanner of Saxton’s River, VT passed away on January 13, 2026, at the Albany Medical Center in Abany, New York. He was 57 years old.

George was born on May 27, 1968, in Proctor, VT the son of Richard and Marjorie (Eaton) Tanner.

George graduated from Rutland High School. George loved sports especially football and the New England Patriots, he also enjoyed going to his sister, Mary Tanner’s house in Massachusetts, he loved cats and had a nickname of the “cat whisperer.” George loved spending time with his nephew, Aaron.

George was a member of Lincoln St in Springfield, VT where he had many dear friends and will be missed by many.

George is survived by his sisters, Mary T. Tanner and Tina Cullen his nephew, Aaron, and friend, Laura Pratt and Rose and Fran Pecor and they were truly like family.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Richard and sister, Barbara.
