Gail F. Switzer, 82, passed away on August 15, 2026, at Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland, NH. Gail was born on June 4, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of Lars and Florence (Bernhart) Thompson. She attended schools in Long Island, NY graduating in 1962 from Tast Meadow High School. In her early years, Gail worked at Cushman’s Restaurant and the Village Market in Saxtons River and served as an EMT on Saxtons River’s Fire and Rescue Squad.

She then worked for many years as a clerk at Shaws grocery store in Walpole, NH.

She loved going annually to the Boston Flower Show and was an avid orchid lover and grower.

Her window at Maplewood always had orchids blooming in it. On July 29,1995, she married Kevin Switzer.

She was predeceased by her husband on October 13, 2023, her daughter, Patricia Leining, her parents, her sister, Dorothy Koehler, and her brother, Lars Christian.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherri Leining, Jennifer Leining-Crum, and Rebecca Leining, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

There will be no services. A special thank you to all the staff at Maplewood Nursing Home for their loving care and kindness during her stay with them.
