Douglas Arthur Wright

February 2, 1945 - December 13, 2023

Douglas Arthur Wright, 78, passed away at home on the morning of December 13, 2023. Douglas was born to Howard Parker Wright and Mabel Brown Wright on February 2, 1945, in Brattleboro, VT. Doug spent his childhood working on his family farm in Grafton, VT, developing a love for farming and animals. After graduating from Leland and Grey Seminary in Townshend, VT, in 1964, Doug worked as a mason and painter before taking a job with the Windham Foundation in Grafton. Never one to shy away from hard work Doug took care of Windham’s flocks of sheep and worked in maintenance as well, all of this while working on the farm at home.

During lambing season, Doug, Howard and Mabel would often bring lambs to the Stratton House, a local nursing home for the residents to see and bring a smile to their faces as spunky wooly lamb will do.

Douglas enjoyed hunting, fishing, splitting firewood and haying. He loved relaxing in the evenings watching a game of any kind with a bowl of popcorn. He was a true family man who loved children and was a huge part of the lives of his nieces and nephews, as well as his stepsons. He enjoyed taking the kids snowmobiling and fishing, and working side by side with them teaching them about farming and animals.

Doug was pre-deceased by his parents, brothers, Norman and Jim Marin, sister, Anne Dean and brother-in-law, Stuart Archambault. He is survived by his sister, Ellen Wright Archambault, and sister-in-laws, Kay Martin, Janet Martin and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT.
