Donald E. Benjamin
Donald E. Benjamin, 71, of Bellows Falls, VT died at home on October 11, 2026. Born in Beverly, MA on June 6, 1955, to Robert and Virginia (Grant) Benjamin. Don attended schools in Beverly, graduating from Beverly High School and attending college at UMass-Amherst.
Don was a caregiver working in Westminster West, Westminster, Putney, Springfield, and Perkinsville, VT. Don had a wide range of interests and knowledge and could start a conversation with anyone. He always had a story to tell and his short version of the beginning of our lives together was that our spouses brought us to Vermont and left us, and it was the best thing that ever happened to us.
On September 2, 2006, he married Barbara J. Rogers in Westminster West, VT where they had met many years before. He is survived by his wife, his step-sons, Michael (Stephanie) Jones of Spotsylvania, VA and William (Mia Russell) Jones of Marietta, GA, grandchildren, Autumn and Alanis Jones of Spotsylvania, VA and David and Adalyn Turner of Springfield, VT, sisters, Jean (Steven) Mazzetta of Beverly, MA and Lynne Wolf of White River Junction, VT, nieces, Jennifer (Joseph) Mulligan and Amanda (Ned) Eisenberg of Massachusetts, and Christina Rogers of Georgia, grandnephews Joseph and Liam Mulligan, and Reid Eisenberg, who called him Gruncle. He is also survived by his chosen family Marilyn Pearson and Regina and Eric Turner, and his buddy, Michael Noble, whom he read to and took care of for the past 10 years.
He enjoyed being with his grandchildren, reading, playing board games, camping, kayaking, and traveling with his family, especially his wife who would “drag” him on all kinds of adventures. He always spotted the yard sale signs wherever he went. Don truly cared about people and will be missed by so many.
He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Richard Benjamin, and his mother-in-law, Marilyn Rogers who called him her favorite son-in-law. They had a special bond.
Funeral service will be held at Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT on October 30 at 1:00 PM.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT 05101.
