Dolores (Doe) Currier Kathan
In the early hours of January 9, 2026, our beautiful matriarch passed quietly away with her family by her side. She was welcomed by her heavenly father and her family that she has missed so much.
Doe was born on September 22, 1928, in Littleton, NH to Leo and Neva LeClerc. She was adopted by her step-father, Clayton Currier who loved her deeply. She attended St. Rose of Lima in Littleton, NH, St. Charles School, Bellows Falls High School and North Phoenix High School in Arizona. After her graduation in 1946, Doe returned to Bellows Falls, VT. On her 15 birthday, Doe met the love of her life Clayton (Bud) Kathan. They were married on June 28, 1947, at St. Charles Church in Bellows Falls.
Doe was predeceased by her husband of 66 Years in 2013, her son, David Kathan in 1965, her daughter, Bonnie (Kathan) VanAmberg in 1989, an infant brother, David LeClerc, step-brother, Thomas LeClerc and her parents and grandparents.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Kathan of Charleston, SC, her son, Thomas (Pam) of Dalton, NH, grandsons, Mike (Annie) VanAmberg, of Newnan, GA, Chris VanAmberg and special friend, Karen McElroy of Bellows Falls, Jennifer (Will) Williams, Cory (Jonathan) Chewing, and Ryan (partner, Hadassah Little) all of Charleston, SC. Great-grandchildren, Halle, Ellah, Clayton, Charlie, Colby and Cyrus of Charleston, SC, Ian and Sarah of Newnan GA, McArdle family of Montpelier, VT. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Carol Miller (Mike) of Brattleboro, nieces, Donna Kathan, Judy Wolfe, Debbie Armor and nephew, Jim Kathan and her lifelong friend, Ainsley.
Doe’s family would like to thank the Visiting Nurses and Hospice of Vermont and New Hampshire and to Gene, Diane and Daniel, Stacey, Casey and many others who shared in her case. We also want to thank Karen McElroy, David McElroy, Donna Kathan, Julie Sines, Fr. Victor Cruz, your gentle loving care made all the difference in her life.
Funeral Services and Celebration of Doe’s Life will take place in the Spring.
Donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
