David Robinson IV

-

Old car enthusiast, singer, adventurous traveler, loving husband and father: David Robinson IV, 78, died on July 11 in Lebanon, NH. A 25-year career in the US Navy included four years enlisted on submarines, officer duty on destroyers and helicopter carriers, and a period of teaching Naval Science to upcoming Merchant Marine engineers. He retired from the Navy Reserves with the rank of Commander.

Dave moved back to Vermont in 1989 to teach at Vermont Academy, his Alma Mater, in the computer department founded by his father.

He shared his deep bass voice over the years with many groups, including the Cheshiremen, Blanche Moyse Chorale, Yankee Male Chorus, Brattleboro Concert Choir, and more.

David’s other passion was antique cars, serving on the Boards of regional and national Packard clubs and belonging to local clubs, such as Yesteryears.

David and his family were fortunate to have experienced a vast variety of travel over the years, by foot, canoe, train, ship, and car. He enthusiastically shared accounts of those adventures with anyone who would listen.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy “Eric” Robinson, daughter, Amanda Cramer and her husband, Philip, and grandchildren, Lucy and Malcolm. He was predeceased by son, Geoffrey.

A memorial service will be held in the fall.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT.
