Clarence E. Gochey

July 10, 1937 - February 15, 2023

Clarence E. Gochey, 85, of Gove Street, passed away February 15, 2023, at his home. Clarence was born on July 10, 1937, in Cabot, VT the son of Lester and Pearl (Grey) Gochey. Clarence attended schools in Cabot and graduated from Cabot High School, Class of 1956. 

He was a truck driver for years and retired from St. Johnsbury Trucking after 30 years. After retiring from St. Johnsbury Trucking, he was known as the “lockout man” for many years. Clarence was a member of the Elks Lodge 1619, and the Moose Lodge 527, both of Bellows Falls. Clarence also was a Trustee and Vice President for the Teamsters Local 597 in Barre, VT. 

At the United Church in Bellows Falls, in 1975, he married Audrey Hinds Patterson who survives. He is also survived by his two sons: Earl, and Fred Gochey, three daughters: Jan Gochey Magoon, Ellie Gregory, and Gayle Philbrick. Clarence is also survived by sisters: Pat Hastings, and Arlene Nutter, as well as 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters: Thelma Ewen, and Eunice Stewart, and brothers: Sonny and Fred. 

A graveside service will take place at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT.
