Charlotte Anne (Connell) Murphy

January 8, 1932 - October 9, 2023

Charlotte Murphy passed away on October 9, 2023, at Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland, New Hampshire. Charlotte was born January 8, 1932, in Haverhill, Massachusetts to the late Daniel and Minnie (Moses) Connell.

Charlotte grew up in Haverhill, Massachusetts and attended Haverhill High School and much later attended Northern Essex Community College. Growing up, Charlotte loved singing, music, and dancing, as well as playing with her siblings. Charlotte became an aunt at a young age and enjoyed playing with her nieces and nephews.

Charlotte would marry William V. Murphy in 1953 in Haverhill and they raised their three children in Andover, Massachusetts.

Charlotte was a devout member of both the St. Augustine and St. Robert Bellarmine Parishes in Andover, Massachusetts. She was also an active member of the Andover Senior Center where she sang with the Sunrise Singers. She traveled with the center to their sister city of Andover, England, visited her beloved Ireland and the Canadian West Coast, and went on a cruise in the Mediterranean. She loved singing in both town and parish choirs. Charlotte was a long-time supporter of the charities Unbound and Lazarus House and she worked many years as a supervisor at Wang Laboratories.

Charlotte loved her Catholic faith and Irish ancestry; singing; and camping with her large extended family at Pawtuckaway State Park. Charlotte loved celebrating the holidays and her Christmas Village collection. SHE ALSO LOVED CHOCOLATE!

As a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Charlotte enjoyed taking care of, and being a part of, her large and growing family over the years, attending local school programs, traveling for weddings, school, and college graduations. She devoted her life to caring for her family and friends.

Charlotte is predeceased by her husband, William Murphy. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Brodie, and predeceased by her brother, David Connell, brother-in-law, Norman Brodie, and sister-in-law, Janice Connell.

She is survived by her son, Timothy (Jacqueline) Murphy, and daughters, Jeannine (Robert) McNamara, and Lynnette (Alan) Johnson, and grandchildren, Shannon (Carolina Rodriguez Garcia) Murphy, Daniel (Arkan Mohammed) Murphy, Meghan (Michael Warbington) Murphy, Colleen (Gregory) Ducluzeau, Kathleen (Matthew) Carluzzo, Marie (Daniel) Romanelli, Jennifer Johnson, Peter (Melissa Binder Johnson) Johnson, Christopher (Laura) Johnson, Matthew Johnson, and her seven great-grandchildren River, Olive, Luna, Claire, Leo, Ezra, and Molly. She is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, and their families.

Calling hours will be held Monday, October 16, 2023, 10:30-11:45 AM at the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, Bellows Falls, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following at 12:00 PM at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, North Walpole, NH. A Celebration of Life will follow at the church. The burial will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, St. James Cemetery in Haverhill, MA.
