Barbara Jean Badger (Towsley) Bryant, 77, formerly from Bellows Falls, VT where she resided most of her life passed away on October 8, 2024, at Sullivan County Nursing Home in Unity, NH. She passed away peacefully with her daughter, Tammy by her side, following a long battle with dementia. Barbara was born in Springfield, MA on May 5, 1947, the daughter of Myrtle and Kenneth Badger, the eighth out of nine children. She graduated from Bellows Falls High School in 1965. Growing up she cherished her dog, Pepper and throughout her entire life, was a cat lady through and through, loving every single one she had, which was many. She became Barbara Towsley in 1966 and had four children that she raised on her own. She worked at the Bellows Falls Rec. Department where she fondly became known as “Mrs. T” or “T” for short. She also cleaned at WNESU and worked in the kitchen at BFUHS. Despite not ever having a license she was a constant presence at her children’s events. She married William “Bill” Bryant of Saxtons River, VT in 2000. She worked at Charlestown Village School, owned by her daughter Tammy, as a preschool teacher and a daycare provider followed by her final job as assistant manager of Subway in Bellows Falls where she made the best subs! She was the hardest working person and put her heart into everything she did. Her and Bill enjoyed traveling the east coast together and made many trips to Graceland. She collected magnets from her travels and had them all arranged in a certain way on her fridge. Her grandkids loved to prank her by switching them around and seeing how long it took her to notice, which was never very long. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved all animals except snakes. She loved chocolate, coffee, pall malls, Elvis, dancing, Nascar, going out to breakfast on weekends and going to fairs.

Her family is grateful for the loving care and friendship she had with Gracie Griffin of Bellows Falls, and her dog, Stella.

Barbara is survived by her children, Tony Towsley and his girlfriend, Kristine, of Block Island, RI, her daughter, Tammy Houghton of Charlestown, NH, her daughter, Robyn Towlsey and her husband, Dave of Charlestown, NH, and her son, Heath Towsley of Bellows Falls, VT. A loving grandma to her six grandchildren, Bret, Rhiannon, Trevor, Riley, Dillion, and Christian. A great-grammy of 11, Isabella, Mason, Kinlee, Kennedy, Evan, Tucker, Maci, Tanner, Maddox, Aubree, and Liam. Her sister, Patricia Trombley of Bellows Falls, and two brothers, Phillip Reney of Keene and Wallace Reney of Surry, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by both her parents, her husband, Bill, her brothers, David and Kenneth, and her sisters, Nellie, Sandra, and Joan.

Her services will be on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 1-3 PM at Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home with a burial to follow at the Immanuel Episcopal Church Cemetery, Church St. She loved the color blue. We are asking people to honor her by wearing her favorite color. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parks Place for their holiday gift program, 44 School St Ext., Bellows Falls, VT 05101.
