Ami Elizabeth Barry (Bensenhaver)

January 12, 1977 - October 3, 2026

Ami Elizabeth Barry (Bensenhaver) passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Jack Byrnes Center in Lebanon, NH on October 3, 2026.

Ami was born in Keene, NH on January 12, 1977. She grew up in Walpole, NH having moved a few times since until she found her home and settled in Newport, NH 11 years ago.

She attended school in Walpole and graduated from Fall Mountain Regional High school in 1995. Although Ami has always been quiet and kept to herself, she had lots of friends she made over the years from camps she attended to finding pen pals, to befriending anyone she felt comfortable enough around. Ami met her former husband, Anthony Barry during her high school years as well.

Ami and Anthony had three children together, Deserae, Cheyenne and Hunter.

Ami went to school for her RN license and worked full time all while tending to her two daughters in her early 20’s. She had a love for helping others and just simply being able to care for patients, especially the ones that didn’t have family to care for them. After years of working in nursing homes, she finally made her way to working in a hospital where she found her love for the Neurology Med Surge unit at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

As most know she had a love for the ocean and the night sky, as well as any concert she could get her hands on. If she wasn’t tracking down the stars and aurora borealis or at the ocean, she would be at a concert with a friend or two, sometimes being her own children.

Ami was always one to have a listening ear to anyone who needed it, a hug to give when someone was down and just all around a great human being that would give the shirt off her back. She was for sure stubborn and never asked for help which made her so strong through anything that was thrown her way.

Ami loved spending time with her four grandchildren when she was able to and was an animal lover who was always so happy to also spend her time with her three cats, Rio, Simba and Pumba.

Ami is survived by her parents, Jane (Graves) and Charles Bensenhaver, her brothers, Cole and Thomas Bensenhaver, all of Walpole, NH, her children, Deserae Barry of Claremont, NH, Cheyenne Horton (Barry) of Winchester, NH, Hunter Barry of Monroe, NH and her step-daughter, Ashley Barry-Hill of Statesville, NC, her grandchildren, Harper, Lucas, Clayton and Bristol, as well as lots of cousins, aunts and uncles.

Ami’s wish is to be buried in her hometown of Walpole, NH in the Walpole Village Cemetery, surrounded by her loved ones at a graveside service. There will be no public calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT.
