Arlene Claire Gallup Houghton, 95, of Walpole passed away on September 28, 2026, at home with her loving family by her side.

Arlene was born on December 1, 1930, in Brattleboro the daughter of Richard and Lona Gallup. She graduated from Brattleboro High School in 1948. She attended the Thompson School of Nursing as an LPN. On October 25, 1953, she married Raymond Houghton together they resided in Walpole. Raymond predeceased her on November 25, 2011.

Arlene worked at the Walpole Elementary School in the cafeteria from 1975-1991. She also was a homemaker. Arlene enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her family.

Arlene is survived by her children, Kenneth (Lori) of Tavares, FL; Louise (Winthrop) Clark of Newfane, VT; Ross of Walpole; Raylene (Carson) of Surry, NH. She is survived by 11 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Franklin (Una) Gallup of Dummerston, VT.

Arlene was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Bedard in 2018.

There will be no visitation. A Graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family at the Walpole Village Cemetery.
