I will always remember Russ as the great story teller. When I was a young teenager, my parents asked Russ to watch over me as I traveled to Camp Blessing for a week of Teen Camp. This was my first true experience being away from home at a camp in the beautiful mountain hills of VT. I guess one would say I was a city boy even though I didn’t see myself that way, but I sure didn’t have previous experience of hiking the hills that possessed so much history. Russ had the gift of making everything in Gods creation come to life. From stories about old stagecoach roads, to beaver dams. From grafting apple trees to Gods plan for mankind and how we are grafted in. His voice was strong and confident, eyes that grabbed hold of you and his laugh was just contagious. I’ll never forget watching him split an apple in half with his bare hands. Made it look so easy until one decides to try it and realizes takes strong hands. His love for the Lord showed in all that he did. He knew Gods word from cover to cover. I am deeply blessed for knowing him and his entire family.

My sympathy to Russ’s family. Russ was a contemporary of my late father, Dwight Miller, Jr, a fellow fruit grower. So I’ve been acquainted with Russ and Allen Brothers since I was young. Thinking of you all at this time.
