Robert Leonard Palmer

October 9, 1959 - January 17, 2025

Robert Leonard Palmer, 65, of Walpole, New Hampshire passed away suddenly on Friday, January 17, 2025. “Bob” to those who were close to him and “Pops” to his grandkids, he was a beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother, and son to his large family.

Born October 9, 1959, in Orange, California, Robert attended Quantico High School in Quantico, Virginia where he graduated as salutatorian. He originally attended West Point, playing basketball there under the famed coach, Mike Krzyzewski, but left the school after a year and a half. Bob met and began dating Margie (Margaret Marie) Palmer in 1980 and they married on May 18, 1981.

He eventually made his way to Westminster, Vermont and C&S Wholesale Grocers as a buyer in their procurement department. Bob attended night school at Franklin Pierce College’s Keene campus and earned his Bachelor’s degree from the institution in 1997. He rose through the ranks at C&S Wholesale Grocers and ultimately retired in December 2023 after a successful stint as the company’s CEO.

Bob loved his family and cherished the time he got to spend with his kids, grandkids, siblings, and parents. He was a big fan of New England sports teams and loved to attend Red Sox and Patriots games with his family. An avid music lover, he also enjoyed attending concerts, as well as traveling with Margie around the country and the world.

He is survived by his wife, Margie; his three children, Doug Palmer (Laura), Brantley Palmer (Sarah), and Caila Wyman (Jon); his six grandchildren, Parker Wyman (Bre), Max Wyman, Nolan Palmer, Palmer Wyman, Maren Palmer, and Tomlin Wyman; his parents, Leonard and Eileen Palmer; and his siblings, John Palmer, Maureen Traher, Coleen Palmer, Bill Palmer, Jim Palmer, Tom Palmer, Don Palmer, their families and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s honor to the Monadnock United Way or the Walpole Village School Project (c/o The Walpole Foundation, PO Box 167, Walpole, NH 03608).

The family will be holding a private gathering to honor Bob and his life.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, 55 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT.
