Peter Allen Young, known to many as “Pete” passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2024, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center as a result of complications associated with heart surgery. He was 67 years old.

Peter was born on April 10, 1956, in Townsend, VT to Lois and Raymond Young and grew up in the family farmhouse in West Wardsboro, VT. The home has been in the family since the late 1700’s. He attended Wardsboro Elementary and later Leland & Gray Union High School.

He dedicated his life to various professions, including logging, beekeeping, and farming. Peter was a hardworking individual who was admired for his sense of humor and conversational skills on a wide range of topics. In his spare time, Peter enjoyed reading about beekeeping and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

On July 12, 1997, he married Lori Ann Murray at the West Wardsboro Church in a wedding attended by much of the town. He is survived by his devoted wife and his sisters, Judy and Conny along with several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service in honor of Peter will be held at the Wardsboro Town Hall on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM. All are invited. His ashes will be scattered in a private ceremony at a later date. Donations in memory of Peter Young can be made to the GoFundMe set up in his honor.

Peter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him including his beloved dog, Pippen.
